Jamaica Here I Come
January 4th was it. All preparations pointed to that day for me to depart. What a whirlwind it has been getting ready to leave Phoenix for Jamaica. So much to do. We my wife and I had so many possessions to sell and many goodbyes to give out.
I honestly did not think I was going to get it all done in time but with God’s help we did. My wife Justine will be following me at the end of January because of many loose ends that needed to be tied up.
Do you know what its like to sell most of your possessions in 6 weeks? I was very stressful for both of us. We had lots of help from many people at Mountain Park Church. I will miss so many people from that church. They are family for my wife and I just as those are we have left in Minnesota.
Garage sales are always an event all by themselves.
I even had to sell a tackle box full of Rapala fish lures. I doubt I would be able to use them in Jamaica anyways.
All my saws, tool boxes, welder, plasma cutter and an assortment of car tools had to be sold not to mention all the furniture in the house. Its amazing what you acquire over the years.
None of this stuff could go to Jamaica.
I would like to have taken many of the tools because I know that they would have been put them to good use with all the building that is going to need to be done but the electrical systems are very different in Jamaica so nothing plugged in and used in the United States will work there.
Jamaica Here I Come
My Jeep was the last thing to go.
The car in Jamaica was going to be purchased with the funds from selling my Jeep.
As we approached my departure date the Jeep still had not been sold. I became concerned but all I could do was to leave it at the feet of God.
How was this going to be worked out I wondered.
Two days before I was to leave someone called me a of the blue and wanted to buy the Jeep. What a load off my back that was.
God works like that. He has come through at the 11th hour so many times with this ministry.
God is good!!
As I fly out from Phoenix so much is going through my mind. I look back and I am amazed at all that was accomplished and all my friends I will someday see again but also look to a very bright future for myself, my wife and this ministry.
I believe God has a lot planed on that little island.
I will be updating this blog/newsletter on a regular basis as well as my Facebook page to keep all my friends informed about what is happening with the Halfway Home Ministries.
We would love to stay in touch with you all.
