Building a Home in Rocky Point

In November 2018 we as missionaries went on a mission trip to Rocky Point in Mexico. We first met at the church in Phoenix at 6am to start our 4 hour van ride to Rocky Point, 1Mission’s base camp.

It was a wonderful experience on the mission field where we put our hands and hearts together for a family in need of a home. We worked alongside 1Mission and Mountain Park Church to help provide a single home for a deserving family.

The family must first put in 200 hours of community helping hours to receive their home. The building of this home is a three day process. We work alongside other volunteers and the family that will receive this wonderful home.

The building begins from pouring the foundation to walls, roof, windows, doors and stucco. This family’s daughter was in a wheelchair and we were asked to lower the windows so she could have a view out the windows.

We also built a wheelchair accessible sidewalk ramp to the front door. The smile on her face was priceless, What a blessing to serve.

The final day the team dedicates this beautiful home to the family. The dedication consisted of praying over the family and their new home. Also presenting them with a family Bible and the keys to their new home. We also help to provide household items that are essential for the family.

Some of which are new mattress, bedding linens, cooking utensils and a small stove top.  There is always tears of happiness and joy during this time.

The final evening the family comes to the family appreciation dinner where we eat together, laugh, play games and share hugs of appreciation.

We thank the Lord for this wonderful opportunity to serve those in need and to work alongside our brothers and sisters in Christ.
